It is not unusual for an organization to freshen its brand without redesigning the whole enchalada. Redesign has cascading costs - human resources, budgetary, time - to name a few. These need to be considered before embarking on a new image. Tweeking an existing mark can freshen the brand without much expense. Here are two examples of recent brand updates that respect the existing mark and acknowledge an institutional milestone.

Universities at Shady Grove had an identity issue. It is a partnership of nine public institutions of higher learning sharing one campus in Montgomery County. All under the auspices of the University System of Maryland. The original brand, at right, focused even-handedly on the geographic location so as not to favor one institution over the other. After 10 years of tremedous growth and success the campus was able to better focus the attention on the partnership. The logo to the left is the new brand launched in fall 2008. The brand to the right is the retired brand. The mark with the swirl will be the 10th Anniversary mark for use on the 10th anniversary report, all letterhead, publications, etc for 2010.

Invitation packages are fun to do. Helping create the spirit of the event gets everyone involved.
Packages often include a save the date card/email blast, print invitation + rsvp card (2 envelopes) and program for the event.
